In the world of do-it-yourself enthusiasts, car computer have been around for a number of years .  But now with the explosion of the mobile entertainment options, the Car PC is moving main-stream.

 

How can we all keep up?

 

This page is dedicated to cutting through the hype and will simply reviewing the most versatile products for the car.

 

Example of what’s to come:

 

 

The above shows Unicorn FM’s Home Page running on a Car PC connected to the internet.  The Car PC is installed in a 1995 Toyota Avalon with no dash modification required.  We simply removed the standard radio and three disk CD changer (DIN 2 format) and installed the Car PC in its place.

 

The below shows a Car PC (Carputer) installed in a standard RX330/350/400h Lexus .  The standard Radio/CD/Cassette Double DIN unit was removed along with the North American Radio Bezel.   The radio bezel was replaced with a new one from Toyota of Japan.  This bezel is designed to accept Double DIN touch screen products and is readily available on the internet.
